PIEGORSCH3, 1Department of Mathemati s and Statisti s, James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Virginia, USA, 2Department of Statisti s, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA and 3Department of Statisti s, University of South Carolina, Columbia, USA ABSTRACT A ommon question in the analysis of binary data is how to deal with overdispersion. One widely advo ated sampling distribution for overdispersed binary data is the beta-binomial model. For example, this distribution often is used to model litter e e ts in toxi ologi al experiments. Testing the null hypothesis of a beta-binomial distribution against all other distributions is diÆ ult, however, when the litter sizes vary greatly. Herein, we propose a test statisti based on ombining Pearson statisti s from individual litter sizes, and estimate the p-value using bootstrap te hniques. A Monte Carlo study on rms the a ura y and power of the test against a beta-binomial distribution ontaminated with a few outliers. The method is applied to data from environmental toxi ity studies.

Score Based Goodness-of-fit Tests for Time Series
This paper studies a class of tests useful for testing goodness of fit of a wide variety of time series models. These tests are based on a class of empirical processes marked by certain scores. Major advantages of these tests are that they are easy to implement, require only weak conditions that are usually satisfied in practical applications, the relevant critical values are readily available ...
متن کاملA New Goodness-of-Fit Test for a Distribution by the Empirical Characteristic Function
Extended Abstract. Suppose n i.i.d. observations, X1, …, Xn, are available from the unknown distribution F(.), goodness-of-fit tests refer to tests such as H0 : F(x) = F0(x) against H1 : F(x) $neq$ F0(x). Some nonparametric tests such as the Kolmogorov--Smirnov test, the Cramer-Von Mises test, the Anderson-Darling test and the Watson test have been suggested by comparing empirical ...
متن کاملEfficient Bootstrap Tests for the Goodness of Fit in Covariance Structure Analysis
Asymptotic chi-square tests, such as the normal theory likelihood ratio test, are often used to evaluate the goodness-of-fit of a covariance structure analysis model. Another approach is to use the bootstrap test, which is known to have the desired asymptotic level if model restrictions are taken into account in designing a resampling algorithm. The bootstrap test is, however, computationally v...

The purpose of the present study is to develop and evaluate psychometric properties of the Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Skills of Couples Scale (IISCS). In terms of testing, the research method was of descriptive type and the sampled statistical population included married men and women living in the city of Tehran, Iran. In this respect, 470 Iranian married men and women (277 women and 193 ...
